Bayswater MP Heidi Victoria has expressed the frustration of local motorists with the Andrews Labor Government announcing $1.8 billion of additional road works in Melbourne’s west whilst the east continues to count the cost of the East West Link cancellation.

Knox has seen an increase in crime by 12% while frontline police numbers have been cut by more than 8%. In Maroondah, crime is up by 11% and again police numbers have been slashed by 12%.

There are now 11 fewer first responders In Knox and 14 fewer in Maroondah since the Andrews Labor Government came to power in 2014. Details: read the press release.

The Andrews Government are failing to keep Victorians safe. Latest statistics show crimes rates are up by 7.1% in Knox and 6.4% in Maroondah on the previous year.

In the Knox area alone there has been a 31.7% increase in robberies in the last year, Public nuisance offenders have increased by a staggering 78% and the dealing and manufacturing of drugs is up 27% and 25% respectively. Especially disturbing is that stalking, harassment and threatening behaviour is up 20% in Knox. Details: read the press release.

Heidi Victoria member for Bayswater has tabled in Parliament a staggering 2,500 signatures on a petition requesting the Andrews government to not reduce the lanes on Mountain Hwy Bayswater by 33%, as part of the Bayswater Level Crossing Removal project. Details: read the press release.

As part of the Bayswater level crossing removal project, Mountain Hwy will be reduced from three lanes down to two. The lanes will be cut between the Valentine St and High St intersection with Mountain Highway, and Jim Abernethy Memorial Drive.

Knox council are behind the lane reduction idea, stating it will make the area more pedestrian friendly and accessible to amenities. Vic Roads has now confirmed the lane reduction will go ahead with the lanes being reduced from three to two lanes in each direction from April this year. Details: read the press release.
