The 17/18 Victorian State Budget has revealed massive budget cuts, cost overruns and project delays under the mismanagement of Daniel Andrews.

Budget figures show:

  • The Arts and Cultural Facilities maintenance fund was cut from $20m to $18.318m and is behind schedule;
  • The Royal Exhibition Building Protection and Promotion work is running a year behind;
  • The Zoos Vic: Big Cat Row redevelopment is running six months late;
  • The Arts Centre Melbourne building services upgrade is running six months late;
  • The Collections Storage upgrade’s completion has been set back to the end of 2018;
  • The Geelong Performing Arts Centre redevelopment is running six months late; and
  • The State Library redevelopment is $3.167 million behind schedule.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Arts and Culture, Heidi Victoria:

Daniel Andrews has cut a substantial $3.2 million from the department’s ‘Creative Industries Access, Development and Innovation’ funding pool, and they blew the total departmental Arts budget by $39.4 million.

Of the nine ongoing Arts infrastructure projects being managed by the Andrews Labor Government, seven have been slashed or are well behind schedule.

Clearly, Daniel Andrews is too focussed running a protection racket for their rorting Labor MPs than he is on delivering for the Arts.
