Bayswater MP Heidi Victoria has warned the Maroondah community to be vigilant over the Christmas break, with news that crime has crept up again in Maroondah, taking the increase since Daniel Andrews was elected to an unacceptable 14.4%.

Crime in Bayswater North was up an enormous 20.5% for the year.

The rise follows a 70% surge in robbery, a 43.3% spike in dangerous acts, 36.5% increase in deception, a 31.6% jump in drug manufacture, a 19% increase in stalking and a 7.4% increase is theft.

Public crime statistics reveal that for the year ending September 2017 there were 8,704 offences reported in Maroondah compared to 8,685 a year ago, but there were only 7,607 offences for the year ended December 2014.

Crime fell under the Napthine Government, and is currently at record lows and falling in NSW, but Victoria is experiencing record highs.

Since Labor came to office in 2014, crime is up 34% in Bayswater North and 54.9% in Kilsyth South.

Bayswater MP Heidi Victoria said the latest figures continued to be completely unacceptable.

“Residents need to be on the lookout this Summer, because it seems Marv & Harry from the Home Alone movies are running the State,” Ms Victoria said.

“Our justice system is in crisis under Premier Andrews due to a failure to address causes of crime, weaker sentencing, bail laws and Police numbers.”
