An elected Liberal Nationals Government will install a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Forest Road, The Basin, if elected in November.

Member for Bayswater, Heidi Victoria announced the commitment today, alongside local mum Paige Kennett, who led a petition earlier this year calling for the crossing.

Ms Kennett requested a pedestrian crossing on Forest Road, near Wright Street in The Basin. The road provides access to multiple schools, nursing homes and young families in the area, but there is currently no safe place to cross.

Member for Bayswater, Heidi Victoria told the media, “many of the schools in the area and residents wrote letters of support, but concerns were brushed off by the Andrews Labor Government.

Ms Victoria said she was pleased to be able to support the local community.

“I’m pleased to announce a Liberal Nationals Government will provide a new pedestrian crossing to ensure people stay active with safety.

“Paige has done a wonderful job of identifying a community need, taking action, and finding a way to get it done. It will really improve safety for young families, students, the elderly and everyone else in this terrific community.” Ms Victoria said.
