Bayswater MP Heidi Victoria has warned the Knox community to be vigilant over the Christmas break, with news that crime is up another 5.8% in Knox, taking the increase since Daniel Andrews was elected to a whopping 24%.

Crime in the 3155 postcode (Boronia) was up an enormous 25.3% for the year. The 3152 postcode (Wantirna) saw a 14.7% rise, and 3153 (Bayswater/Bayswater Nth) was up 7.2%.

The rise follows a 40.5% spike in drug possession, 30.7% increase in weapons offences, a 25% jump in robbery, a 21.6% increase in drug manufacture and an 11.7% increase is burglary.

Public crime statistics reveal that for the year ending September 2017 there were 11,974 offences reported in Knox compared to 11,313 a year ago, an increase of 661 offences. There were 9,657 offences for the year ended December 2014.

Crime fell under the Napthine Government, and is currently at record lows and falling in NSW, but Victoria is experiencing record highs.

Since Labor came to office in 2014, crime is up 43.8% in 3152, 16.2% in 3153, 56.2% in 3154 and 53.6% in 3155.

Bayswater MP Heidi Victoria said the latest figures continued to be completely unacceptable.

“Residents need to be on the lookout this Summer, because it seems Marv & Harry from the Home Alone movies are running the State,” Ms Victoria said.

“Our justice system is in crisis under Premier Andrews due to a failure to address causes of crime, weaker sentencing, bail laws and Police numbers.”
